We enjoyed a fantastic and secluded three nights at Anne’s Retreat. The seclusion is the number one thing about this place! The hut itself is beautiful and finished to the highest standard. It was clearly made with love by the owner and host Euan (who lives nearby to welcome and help with anything). It is a really fun place and host Euan, was quick to show us the log burner inside and the fire pit outside which we enjoyed keeping stocked each evening. The separate bathroom hut is beautifully finished including an external light which when turned on at night, means you can sit in the bath and and look out over the secluded woodland. Also, it rained all day on one of our days (so take Monopoly, just in case!) which is great fun from inside the warm hut (if you like the rain, like us!). Obviously the bathroom hut is separate so you will get fractionally wet popping to the loo! For us this absolutely added to the quintessential charm of the place.
There are endless walks from and around Anne’s Hut (maps provided - although I would really just ask Euan as he knows the best spots and is more than willing to help!). Tintern, a lovely little village on the river, is 10 minutes away with plenty of places to eat and Tintern Abbey is stunning.
My advice is to go food shopping before you arrive and stay on site, away from the rest of the world, for as long as possible! The 4G connection, if you want it, is pretty good too.
Euan really went above and beyond, going as far as to chop wood for us each day and help build our fire pit each evening. He really couldn’t have been more helpful.
