If you’re craving time together with no distractions, Penterry Holidays offers two secluded, adults-only retreats designed just for couples. Tucked away in the peaceful Wye Valley near Chepstow, Orchard Cottage and Anne’s Retreat are places to slow down, reconnect and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Space to Switch Off, Just the Two of You

Both of our retreats sleep two and are intentionally small-scale – there’s just one cottage and one shepherd’s hut on our land. That means:

No crowds, no shared facilities, no family groups.
Quiet lanes, starry skies and birdsong instead of traffic.
Room to breathe, wander and talk without interruption.

Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, planning a mini-moon or simply need a reset together, this is a place where you can truly switch off.

Orchard Cottage – Cosy, Dog‑Friendly Escape

Orchard Cottage is a luxury self-catering cottage for two, with views across to the Black Mountains and has its own private orchard.

Perfect for:

Couples who love long walks and lazy evenings in.
Bringing the dog along – well-behaved dogs are welcome here.
Slow mornings with coffee on the terrace and evenings by the fire.

Inside, you’ll find a super king bed with fine Egyptian cotton sheets, a wood-burner with plenty of logs, a comfortable sitting room and a bathroom with both bath and shower. Outside, there’s a private terrace, sun loungers, and a bench by the stream at the end of your own orchard – ideal for an evening glass of wine together.

Anne’s Retreat – A Secluded Shepherd’s Hut for Two

Anne’s Retreat is our “next level” shepherd’s hut, set in its own meadow on the edge of a natural wood. It’s designed for couples who want complete seclusion without compromising on comfort.

Why couples love it:

Set apart in its own field – wonderfully private and peaceful.
A super king bed and a crackling wood-burner for cosy nights.
A separate private bathing hut with a huge double-ended bath and full-sized rain shower.

The main hut has everything you need for simple, relaxed self-catering, with the bathing hut linked by decking so you can pad across in your dressing gown. It feels like glamping, but with proper comfort and indulgent bathing built in.

Time Together, Surrounded by Nature

From your door you can wander quiet country lanes, pick up sections of Offa’s Dyke, or drive to the River Wye, Forest of Dean, Tintern Abbey and local castles. Or you can stay put – reading, talking, cooking together and watching the light change over the hills.
